THE JOURNEY AHEAD

I am careful to use the word planting (as in church planting), as that will speak of something that is stationary or standing still, dormant, in one place. It will speak of something that is well balanced. It will speak of a “doing” rather than a “being”. A structure that people are familiar with. It will need scaffolding, security fencing, and lots of equipment, contracts, schedules and deadlines to keep. It will speak of something that will fit into this cosmos and will be subjected to this chronos. Something that people can enter and join. It will mean that is a place where you can go to, that you can visit. A place that people can stand on the outside and look into. It will be a material thing. It will be a business and people will treat it as “business as usual”. The unsaved world sees the present day church as a business.

I prefer to call this point of departure “The Journey”. As I see the departure of URBAN LIFE MINISTRIES as a spiritual journey. This will be a new journey with numerous new destinies. As we travel from place to place as the Lord leads us, we will meet new people,  we will forge new relationships, make acquaintances and sweat through many new friendships. There will be new destinies; there will be an ever changing roadmap. It will be spiritual, it will be about Christ in us the hope of glory. It will be about loving the lost and coaching the found. It will be about being real and transparent. It will be about living the life that God has given us to the full. No limits. It will be about making some wrong decisions and then to right them again. It will be about understanding that it is not perfection that we are striving for, but a real life size relationship with the Lord of our lives.

The only thing that I am certain about is the departure. We will depart.  I will reserve an auditorium or conference centre in the city of Port Elizabeth as the Holy Spirit leads for that departure gathering. I am also not certain of the date yet. In the mean time we will endeavour to go from cave to cave to find those thousands who have been prepared for this move of the Holy Spirit.

1 Kings 19:18 (nkjv) yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

I want a response from the people out there, as this journey must be an “us” or a “we” journey. I want feedback from you. So sms, phone or email your response. Your contribution, however large or small will be highly valued.
